Miss India Guyana Worldwide…Franchise holder clears the air on ‘nonexistent’ lawsuit

MISS Guyana India Worldwide pageant franchise holder, Chandini Rambalack, has just returned from the Miss India Worldwide 2013 pageant, and is currently in process of responding to an article carried in last Sunday’s issue of this publication.

In the article at reference, it was reported that Miss India Worldwide 2012, Alana Seebarran, was suing her and her sister, Lucria, for $50M for failing to discharge contractual and fiduciary duties owed to Alana Seebarran, and for impersonation.

Responding yesterday to the article, Chandini said she had been informed about the article while at the Miss India Worldwide Pageant in Malaysia recently. While indicating that the full extent of her response would be made public after consulting with the Miss India Worldwide franchise holder and her lawyers, she nevertheless related that, coming months after what she called the manufactured scandal of the Youtube video in November of last year, it is clear that the intent of those representing Ms. Seebarran is sensationalism.

Chandini said that having already dealt with that issue in her response to the allegations of impersonation six months ago, during which Ms. Seebarran chose not to initiate any legal proceedings against her, she cannot reasonably be expected to address this once again. However, if it comes to that, she is more than ready and willing to confront the issue.

Chandini said that judging from the virtually identical stories in the Guyana Times, Kaieteur News and Guyana Chronicle, it is clear that the “supposed legal action” for what she dubbed the “ludicrous sum of $50 million” is also equally manufactured.

She declared that Mr. Charles Ramson’s implication in his talking to the press –- that the matter is sub judice — is deliberately misleading, since she has so far not been served with any writ, a fact Mr. Ramson should have been aware of as someone who claims to be a competent attorney.

Chandini said this is particularly disingenuous, considering that his client made several media appearances during her absence from the country, with him choosing near the date of her (Chandini’s) return to allegedly initiate litigation, and then for him to conveniently and presumptively suggest that there is some gag order on what she described as a “so far nonexistent court case”.

Chandini also said that Ms. Seebarran and Mr. Ramson are well aware of the full facts of her tenure as Miss India Guyana/Worldwide, facts that she has kept out of the public domain out of respect for the franchise of which she is the owner; out of respect for Ms. Seebarran; and in the interest of putting sad incidents behind her. However, if the article carried on Sunday last was a campaign to stain her reputation and that of her business, and should it continue, she would have no choice but to present such facts openly, whether in the court of public opinion or in a court of law.

Chandini noted that having an intimate knowledge of the unfortunate history of what she called “this tiresome engagement”, she has no doubt that Ms. Seebarran is receiving advice and guidance that is not in her best interest, and not true to her character.

Chandini said she believes that the tremendous talent and drive that won Ms Seebarran the Miss India Worldwide crown will be great assets to her in the future, and she suggests that Ms Seebarran should refocus her energy towards her admirably ambitious career endeavours from this point on.
