TRAVIS Bynoe, 28, of B4 Tucville, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to robbery under arms, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday. Particulars of the offence said that on Wednesday, January 16, in Tucville, being together with another person and armed with a dangerous weapon he robbed Fred James of two gold chains with pendants, valued $1,200,000, one gold band worth $100,000, two gold rings priced at $100,000, a $20,000 wallet, G$160,000 and US$600, making a total loss of G$1,700,000.
Police Sergeant Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was standing in front of his yard when the defendant, accompanied by another, brandished a gun and demanded that he hand over the jewellery and money.
The court upheld the prosecutor’s objection to bail, based on the seriousness of the crime and remanded Bynoe to prison until April 26.
