SHAWN Anderson, 19, of Lot 182 Cummings Street, Georgetown, yesterday, pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting bodily harm.

He is charged with committing the offence on Tuesday, April 2, on three weeks old Shamara Yankara, who was represented in court by her mother, Simone Yankara.
The defendant admitted he is the father of the baby and Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt, prosecuting, objected to bail for him, on the basis that the infant is still hospitalised.
The prosecutor also said, if pre-trial freedom is granted, Anderson may not return for trial.
He added that, since the defendant also resides at the same place with the witness, the latter is likely to interfere with her and Anderson was remanded to prison until May 10.
