Linden Town Week Pageant returns after one year ‘De Sheriffs’ call up nine to vie for title

THE signal event of the annual Linden Town Week celebrations over the years, the Linden Town Week Pageant is back after one year, and will see nine delegates taking to the stage for its return after falling off the programme last year.

altThe sashing ceremony for the Town Week Pageant was held on Friday night at the L & L Club and Lounge, paving the way for its staging at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground on Saturday, May 4, after the annual celebrations would have jumped off on April 26, and will conclude on May 6 in the mining town of Linden.
This year’s promotion is being done by two young men who call themselves ‘De Sheriffs Entertainment’, Lincoln Zephyr and Quacy Johnson and they are collaborating with the popular L & L Night Club Management to bring off this much anticipated event.
At the sashing ceremony were Interim Management Committee Chairman, Orin Gordon along with the Linden Town Week Committee Chairman, Eon Halls who along with the Public Relations Officer for the Town Week Committee, Fitzherbert Ralph assisted in the sashing ceremony.
The nine delegates will represent the various areas in the town – Nikieta McFarlane will represent Silvertown, Kenisha Regis is Miss Watooka, Latisha is Miss Blueberry Hill, Nichola Rodney is Ms Block 22, Renea Sydney is Miss Retrieve, Shevanne Charles is Miss Amelia’s Ward, Shanti Paul is Miss Coomacka, Kimberly Elexy is Miss Kara Kara, and Laketya McPhoy is Miss Central McKenzie.
Chairman of the IMC Gordon congratulated the young men for coming forward and ensuring that the event most looked forward to by residents and visitors is back.
The organisers also had on show the various prizes which will be at stake, among them for the first, second and third place winners are a trip to a Caribbean Island, one Jailing motorcycle, one Gateway laptop, two pairs of gold earrings, one trophy, and three gift sets, among other individual prizes such as Best Gown and Best Smile.
