Attempted murder, robbery accused remanded

DARRYL Gilkes, 22, of Lot 19 Block ‘F’ Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was remanded to prison on Friday last on charges of attempted murder and robbery under arms. Before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell, particulars of the indictable offences said, on Tuesday, April 2, being armed with a gun, he robbed Colin Fraser of a $90,000 gold chain and, in an attempt to kill, he discharged a loaded firearm at Seon Mandason.
Defence counsel, Leslie Sobers, back in private practice after leaving the Magisterial Bench, told the court that the accused indicated to him that he is very shocked and amazed at the charges.
The lawyer said the man, who is as ‘humble as a dove’, has cooperated with the police since being arrested and is willing to proceed with the trials.
