HEAD of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr Roger Luncheon has taken umbrage to a report carried in the Kaieteur News, speculating that “Guyana is among the most corrupt countries in the world, Jagdeo was steering it like his own farm. They don’t even have a law for public procurements!”
The Head of the Presidential Secretariat says that this “this is a lie.”
The article purportedly quotes the former Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development; Erik Solheim, as saying Guyana is a corrupt country.
“This is a lie” Dr Luncheon said and has since challenged the newspaper to confirm that this is a lie, and that the quote from former Minister Solheim was deliberately fabricated by the Kaieteur News.
Dr Luncheon is also looking to have the publisher of the Kaieteur News, Glenn Lall, explain why it “thinks it is permissible to deliberately spread lies about a foreign government minister and our own Head of State.”
The Head of the Presidential Secretariat has also called on the “Kaieteur News’ to apologise to Former Minister Erik Solheim and former President of Guyana Bharrat Jagdeo for slandering them both by “deliberately telling this lie.”
