ECCB/Elizabeth Styles first division final on tomorrow

PULSATING cricket action is anticipated tomorrow at the Lusignan Community Centre ground when the final of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB)-organised, Elizabeth Styles-sponsored first division 40 overs division competition culminates.

Several national cricketers will showcase their talent as they aim to make their team victorious and take home the trophy and according to president of the ECCB Bissoondyal Singh, everything is in place for an action-packed event between Lusignan Sports Club and Enterprise Busta Sports Club, who will battle for supremacy at the first-division level on the East Coast.
Singh said that the ECCB anticipates a large crowd since the two teams are powerful outfits on the East Coast and have contested in numerous fierce battles in the past.
Tomorrow’s final will be played with coloured clothes, white balls and black sightscreens and both teams, including the match officials, will take home thousands of dollars in Elizabeth Style products.
The competition commenced last year with eight first-division teams participating and the ECCB head said his board is very grateful to Elizabeth Styles of USA and India (and now established in Guyana) for their involvement in cricket.
Singh also described the company as ‘a wonderful corporate citizen, whose involvement with local cricket has affected the lives of hundreds of youngsters in a positive way.
The team from Lusignan Sports Club will come from: Hemnarine Hira, Kumar Bishundial, Brian Sattaur, Vishnu Ramjeet (capt.), Rajendra Nickbarran, Dellon Carmichael, Somnauth Bharrat, Narvin Singh, Devindra Bishun, Steve Ramdass, Imran Khan, Chetram Gangadin, Gajanand Suknanan, Tajpaul Deosarran. The manager is Gewan Persaud and the coach is Chandrika Geenarine.
The team from Enterprise will come from: Zaheer Mohammed-Shadir, Parmanand Dindyal, Videsh Lall (capt.), Rohan Mangal, Rajendra Chandrika, Amitab Ramcharran, Kamesh Yadram, Vivian Albert, Arif Habib, Ramesh Atkinson, Chatterpaul Singh, Basant Prashad, Dave Persaud and Amar Kisshur. The manager is Jitlall Jawaherlall and the coach is Latchman Yadram.
The umpires for the match are Gyananand Sukdeo and Kenalyn Baker with Gavin D’Aguiar as the standby. Overseeing the day’s proceedings is national match referee Judister Rampersaud and the first ball will be bowled at 10:30 hrs.
