THE BERBICE Cricket Board (BCB) organised Carib Beer 20/20 tournament will on Sunday enter into its playoff stage with two exciting matches scheduled for the Cumberland ground in Canje, involving Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets versus Blairmont Community Centre while Young Warriors Universal DVD would be at home against West Berbice.
Berbice powerhouse Rose Hall Town Gizmos and Gadgets under new captain Delbert Hicks would be the strong favourites when they clash with Blairmont in the first game at 0930hrs.
They would be spearheaded by Hicks, West Indies Test player Assad Fudadin, former West Indies ODI player Royston Crandon, Rajiv Ivan, Shawn Pereira, Clinton Pestano, Khemraj Mahadeo, Jason Sinclair and Renwick Batson.
Blairmont Community Centre would depend heavily on Kevon Jawahir, Dereck Narine Jr, Wagar Hassan Shabeer Baksh, Deveshwari Prashad and Parmanand Ramdhan in outstanding performances if they are to put up any challenge to their opponents.
The second match which bowls off at 1300hrs should be a close encounter with Young Warriors Universal DVD playing West Berbice.
Young Warriors Universal DVD challenge would be spearheaded by the Ramdeen brother, Richard and Kevin, veteran Anil Beharry, national Under-19 player Shimron Hetmyer and Balram Samaroo, but West Berbice would be no easy walkover with several exciting players in the likes Keon Joseph, Keith Fraser, Krishnadat Ramoo, Raun Johnson, Kwesi Mentore and Brentnol Woolford in their lineup.
The winners of both games would advance to the semifinals scheduled for next Sunday at the Albion ground, while Bermine and Albion Community Centre would play in the third playoff on the same day, with the winners reaching the final after drawing a bye in the semifinals.
