The only axe I wield is the legal sword that is my brain

I REFER to an article in your Letters column captioned: ‘A.P.N.U was nurtured in the belly of the PNC’, published on March 4, 2013.

In that article, your newspaper has perpetrated a grievous libel on an enduring patriot.  Let me disabuse your mind at the outset, to emphasise that “I don’t do drugs,”  nor “I don’t do crime”.  Most importantly, I do not see Guyana’s treasury as my personal bank account.

I am sorry if the writer sees me as an ‘axe man’  because of my legal treatise rejecting the Speaker’s ruling.

But to insinuate bullyism and hooliganism, and that I was the lawyer cavorting with someone I never knew or met in my life, Dale Moore of criminal infamy, shows clear malicious intent to disparage me in the eyes of right thinking members of society.  In his indecent haste, he failed to put a mouthstache on the lawyer.

This article is in keeping with a trend of your newspaper to impute criminality in me.  I refer to your publications of February 14, 2013;  February17, 2013 and February 24, 2013, in which you declared I had a telephone conversation with Commissioner Felix and insinuated that it was criminal.

Your writer must know that I rejected that tape also, as well as the rest of the world, including the diplomatic community as being nothing more than the “King’s Magic Suit”.

Mr. Editor, I reject all those innuendoes in your newspaper.  I earn my living the old fashioned way – I work for it.  The only axe I wield is the legal sword that is my brain.
I can assure you that I will continue to wield it in the interest of the Guyanese people.
