AN ABUSIVE language charge against Kumlawattie Indar was dismissed at the Sparendaam Court, on Tuesday, by Magistrate Alex Moore.

Particulars of the offence had alleged that the defendant, on Friday, March 8, at Success, also on the East Coast of Demerara, abused Padmattie Itwaru.
But attorney-at-law Ms. Gwendolyn Bristol submitted that the allegation was frivolous, vexatious and of no substance.
The virtual complainant, who was present in court, claimed that the defendant had spread rumours, around the neighbourhood, that her 13-year-old daughter was having an affair with the husband of the former, about which she is very distraught.
Magistrate Moore admonished the police for charging someone on a hearsay allegation and informed Itwaru that such a charge cannot be heard criminally and she should seek advice from a lawyer and file a civil action for defamation.
