JUST on the heels of the official launch of the Bartica Easter Regatta 2013, the lovely delegates of the Miss Bartica Regatta pageant were officially sashed last Saturday evening in a programme that presented a radiant showcase of young talent.
Eight delegates were officially sashed by representatives of their sponsors, and exchanged courtesies for their sterling contribution to this year’s contest. Each delegate wore fashion apparel created by Guyana’s veteran designer Sonia Noel, who is coordinating and executing this year’s pageant.
The Bartica Regatta 2013 promises to be one of the most memorable events on this year’s entertainment calendar. The committee has sought assistance of local Barticans, DC Promotions, to ensure that the events go down without a hitch. The sheer magnitude of what the Bartica Regatta has become over the past few years makes it a tourist sector calendar event.
Meanwhile, the committee has formulated a series of activities to mark this year’s regatta event. The football festivities will run from March 24th to the 28th, and patrons will witness teams drawn from a nationwide pool competing for top honours.
The Gospel Concert and International Artistes Mega Concert are set for March 29th and 30th respectively, and promises a variety of stellar performances.
For the pageant, eight stunning young ladies from all over Guyana will take to the stage on March 31, vying for the oldest pageant crown in local history.
The water sports — both swimming and speed boat racing — will be run off starting on March 31 and ending on April 1st, presenting two days of highly competitive contests.
This will all boil down to the Beach Throttle Down Party, which will again see a variety of mega entertainment activities to crown a fun-filled week.
Aside from the DC Promotions, the Bartica Regatta Committee has also teamed up with Fashion Queen Sonia Noel, a Bartican herself, who will be spearheading the Miss Regatta Pageant as well as lending her expertise in the areas of events management and planning.
The committee will also be launching a magazine as a signpost to its ongoing success.
Competing for this year’s title and crown are Sasha Hamza, sponsored by Lobron Speedboat Service; Tekeisha Taylor, sponsored by Royal Gold Traders; Jamilah Jones, sponsored by Indi and Sons General Store; Faydeha King, sponsored by Partners Investment; Alicia Bess, sponsored by C.B & R Mining Enterprise; Shellon Fraser, sponsored by MJ Mining; Tenecia Ferrier, sponsored by Alki Investment; and Eksi Edwards, sponsored by Prestigious Inn.
