THE annual Mayor’s Cup knockout football tournament is set to kick off on Friday, March 15, at the Den Amstel ground with a double-header.

In the first match Uilvlugt clash with Police at 18:30hrs while home team Den Amstel collide with Riddim Squad at 20:30hrs. Football action continues on Saturday, March 16 – this time at the BV ground with another double-header.
Bakewell Buxton come up against Santos at 18:30hrs and BV Triumph clash with GFC at 20:30hrs. On Sunday, March 17, football action switches back to Den Amstel ground where Stewartville take on GDF at 18:30hrs, while the new kids on the block Slingerz FC take on Northern Rangers FC at 20:30hrs. Action switches to Gerogetown on Monday 18th when Camptown take on Golden Grove at 18:30hrs and Fruta Conquerors collide with Mahaica FC at 20:30hrs.
So far a number of sponsors have come forward to make the tournament a success. They are MACORP, Nzar Mohamed, Busta, Two Brothers Gas Station, General Equipment Guyana Limited, Bakewell, Beepat & Sons and Guyana Lottery.
Winners of the tournament will carry away $1M, second-placers $500 000, third-placers $300 000 and fourth-placers $200 000.
