CRICKET fans on the East Coast of Demerara will assemble at the Ogle Community Centre today, to witness the final of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB)-organised Elizabeth Styles-sponsored second division 40 overs-a-side tournament between Ogle Cricket Club and Golden Grove Cricket Club.
The action commemorates the tournament that was being sponsored for the first time by sponsors who are based in both the USA and India and will bowl off at 10:30hrs. It is expected to be an exciting and entertaining affair.
This is the first time in many years that both Ogle and Golden Grove have reached the final. The tournament attracted 36 second division teams and saw Golden Grove defeat Fairfield and Ogle get the better of Strathaven, to reach the final.
The team from Ogle Cricket Club will come from: , Khemraj Dindial (capt.), Darshanand Pooran, Anand Persaud (v-capt.), Andre Gomes, Thakur Pooran, Parmanand Sanicharan, Andrew Bento, Tulsieram Balkaran, Christopher Bianchini, Ayodha Joseph, Khalid Haslim, Akshay Rampersaud, Soopaul Sanichar, Sahadeo Pooran, Ganesh Balkaran, Manager/Coach Ashmul Ali.
Golden Grove’s final XI will come from: Richard Woolford (capt.), Rudolph Singh, Ranjeet Hirdlall, Sherfone Rutherford, Christopher Surat, Shavis Rutherford, Shawn Thomas, Steven Mangal, Akeem Bowen, Azel Da Silva, Oswin Blair, Kerron Gordon, Nawaz Mohamed, Zalim Mohamed, Delon Skeete, Manager/Coach Bernard Daw.
The umpires for the match are Dhanraj and Validum Ritney with Ms Kenalyn Baker as the standby. Overseeing the day’s proceedings is national match referee Judister Rampersaud.
