After five days… Court orders probe into dog owner’s detention

SEAN October (no address given) appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry Wednesday, charged with having a furious dog at large.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed on February 9, when he caused the animal to be free.
The defendant complained, in court, that he was in custody since Saturday, February 9 and Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, could not tell the magistrate the reason for October being kept for five days without bail.
The magistrate ordered that the matter be investigated and put the defendant on self-bail until March 8.
