THE Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and elections on Sunday at the Port Mourant Training Centre in Berbice, starting at 10:00hrs.
The elections comes in the wake of a meeting last year where the GVF president Lennie Shuffler met with the sport’s world governing body President Dr Ary Graca and CSV executives in Rio late last year.
Under the theme “Development through Activity”, Shuffler had previously announced that the GVF is gearing for a busy 2013, where a four-year development plan would be unfolded with inputs from the Brazilian Volleyball Federation.
If plans remain on stream, Guyana’s male and female teams could participate in the Confederación Sudamericana de Voleibol (CSV) tournaments with support from the Confederation Brazil de Volleyball (CBV) and the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB).
There are plans to have training done for local referees, coaches and administrators while also bringing beach volleyball to the forefront.
Exchange visits between Block members, Amapa, Cayenne (French Guyana), Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and Roraima at all levels will be encouraged with Guyana hosting an International Invitational Club Tournament late October or early November 2013.
