MAGISTRATE Adela Nagamootoo, at the New Amsterdam Court yesterday, remanded Aubrey Brandt to prison on a drug trafficking charge.

The defendant, who is charged with having trafficked 31 grammes of cannabis sativa (marijuana) at his East Canje home also in Berbice, pleaded not guilty.
The court was told that, on December 29 last, at 02:00 hrs, police, acting on information, went to the defendant’s home where a search was carried out for narcotics, arms and ammunition.
Whilst in the bedroom, a plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited plant were found under the bed and Brandt was escorted to Central Police Station where the things weighed amounted to 31 grammes.
The case is fixed for trial on February 12.
