WE, the residents of New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop would like to bring an urgent matter of importance to the relevant authorities regarding noise nuisance. There are two residences that play loud music in open air to the discomfort of all surrounding residences. These residences are situated front buildings of lots 118 and 121 South New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop. On many occasions reports were made to the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station and there was no response from the patrol. The neighbourhood is left to endure the blaring of music into the early hours of the mornings. One of the residences has close ties with the police.
We are appealing for an urgent relief, as children have to study, the senior citizens need their rest, and those that work the night shifts need to sleep to return to work.
We are appealing for some measures to be put in place for the festive season and beyond. The police need to be reminded that their primary role to this nation is to maintain law and order and they must do so without impartiality and do respond to citizens’ call, before citizens take the law into their hands.
