THE Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) will stage its final senior competition for 2012 when the National Open is held tomorrow and Saturday at the Banks DIH Car Park, Thirst Park. The competition will bring together the best of the country’s seniors including the trio who stopped a Trinidad invasion last month. Middleweight Dennis Thomas, welterweights Laured Stewart and Eon Bancroft, lightweight Steffon Gouveia and bantamweight `Magic’ Imran Khan would all be vying for honours when the bell sounds at 18:00hrs tomorrow.
Thomas, Bancroft and Gouveia allowed for the high flying of the national flag last month end when they defeated fighters from Trinidad and Tobago when a ProAm card was held at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.  Meanwhile, trophies for the competition are being sponsored by the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA).
