Store clerk pleads not guilty to abusing policeman

SPARENDAAM Magistrate Alex Moore placed store clerk Trenton Benjamin, 29, of 772 Section B, Sophia on $5,000 bail when he appeared before him on Tuesday, 4th February, charged with allegedly verbally abusing policeman Collin Cole.

Benjamin pleaded not guilty to the allegation, and, in his defence, told the court that the entire incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between him and the peace office.

After hearing Benjamin’s explanation, Magistrate Moore granted the young man his pre-trial liberty on condition that he returns to court on January 8, 2013 when the matter is set for trial.
