TOGETHER they are considered to be two of Guyana’s best umpires, a fact that was exemplified by the Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association (GCUSA) electing both Bro. Shannon Crawford and Bro. Nigel Duguid to head their body for the next year.
Crawford, who served under the stewardship of Bro. Grantley Culbard, was handed the baton of leadership for the body which officiates in matches that are played under the auspices of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) following an election that was held at the Clerical and Commercial Workers Union (CCWU) Clerico House last Thursday at the conclusion of the GCUSA’s Annual General Meeting.
The 42-year-old Duguid, who is currently in Bangladesh officiating in that country’s first-class season as part of the exchange programme between the West Indies Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, replaces Crawford as vice-president.
Bro. Arleigh Rutherford replaced Bro. Matthew Kissoon as the Honorary Secretary of the GCUSA; Bro. Eddie Nicholls was re-elected to serve as the Honorary Treasurer while Bro. Montgomery Chester replaced Bro. Rutherford as the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer.
The Public Relations Officer is Bro. Heuvel Cunha who replaced Bro. Mario Nichols in that position, while Bros Hortence Isaacs, Delvin Austin, former West Indies fast bowler Colin Stuart and Ryan Banwarie were elected as Committee Members of the GCUSA at the elections which saw all nominees unopposed, under the guidance of Ronald Williams.
