–  ‘The private sector is not going to stand by quietly while the politicians run havoc in our country’ – Gouveia
OWNER of Roraima Group of Companies, Captain Gerry Gouveia has challenged Members of Parliament (MPs) to put Guyana first when dealing with matters in the National Assembly.

altIn an interview with the Guyana Chronicle on Thursday, the former Private Sector Commission (PSC) Chairman said he shares the view of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) President Clinton Urling in relation to the current situation in Parliament.
Urling had previously told the media that the will of the Speaker of the House and the parliamentary process should be respected.
He had also stated that the work of Parliament should go on as opposed to bickering, noting that there is substantively much to be done in the interest of the people of Guyana, including very pertinent issues such as constitutional and local government reform and the preparations for next year’s budget that need to be discussed.
Gouveia declared that the private sector is not happy with what is happening in Parliament and emphasised that the former grouping is certainly not going to remain silent.
“This private sector is not going to stand by quietly while the politicians run havoc in our country. Never again is it going to happen,” he asserted.

POLITICAL STAKEHOLDERS
Gouveia empahsised that they will continue to engage the political stakeholders and plead with them to put Guyana first; put the younger generation first and put the economy where it needs to go so development can continue and a better life can  be provided for Guyanese.
He said the private sector is very concerned about anti-business sentiments.
“This private sector is very unified under the Private Sector Commission and this private sector believes in Guyana,” Gouveia stated.
He said the sector does not mean to be balanced but rather has every intention to be right when it makes a pronouncement.
“Some people may not be happy about what we say but we will make every effort to continue to be right in what we say, so that it could benefit Guyana,” he remarked.
