NEIL Ramsarran, of Lot 50 Sheriff Street, Georgetown, was ordered to post $200,000 bail yesterday, when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on a simple larceny charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on November 29, he stole one handbag containing items valued a total of $182,000, property of Serveena Brooks.
Police Corporal Seon Blackman, prosecuting, said the woman had parked her motor car on Sheriff Street, disembarked and was talking on her cell phone when she turned around and saw the defendant moving away from it.
The prosecutor said the virtual complainant went to her vehicle and discovered her handbag missing.
Subsequent investigations led to Ramsarran being arrested and charged.
The case will be called, again, on December 18.
