SEAN Gonsalves, 27, of Lot 2 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, has been charged with unlawful assault before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.
He appeared in court yesterday and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed November 7 when he unlawfully assaulted William Daley so as to cause him actual bodily harm. Defence Counsel, Mortimer Coddett, requesting reasonable bail, said the defendant is the nephew of the virtual complainant and they have an ongoing feud.
The lawyer said, only recently, Daley was placed on a bond to keep the peace having attacked the defendant and threatened to burn down his house.
Coddett said Gonsalves was defending himself against the attack by Daley who cuffed him to his right eye while in a police van.
Daley denied the allegation.
However, Gonsalves was ordered to post $20,000 surety until November 14.
