JOEL Fairer (no address given) was remanded to prison on a murder charge yesterday. Before Chief Magistarte Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, it was alleged that, on October 7, he murdered Brian Assannah.
Police Corporal Kerry Bostwick, prosecuting, said that day, Assannah was assisting with escorting Fairer to Alberttown Station when the accused stabbed the former to his neck with a knife.
Defence Counsel Paul Fung-a-Fat claimed the prisoner was attacked first by two men.
The lawyer requested an early date to commence the preliminary inquiry (PI) and the court set November 15.
