Deal with law-breakers firmly

MINISTER Irfaan Ali warns of “stern action against vandalism at Parliament Square”, which was earmarked to have been completed two months ago.
However, about three months ago, a group of persons began occupying a section of the square without any authority or permission, he stated.
The minister said, while this is the case, he is a strong believer in democracy. “We believe in freedom of expression, so, what we did is, we allowed them,” he explained.
According to him, three months have now elapsed and the contractor has given notice of termination because this has created a setback and the deadline for the completion of the park might not be met.
Mr. Minister, please stop playing mind games because they could lead to serious and deadly consequences.
From the time these people began to occupy this square without permission they should have been firmly dealt with.
Once they are commanded not to occupy this square then there should be no second or third or fourth request.
For too long now this government would allow certain people to do as they please; and it’s the innocent who pay the ultimate price.
Did government learn anything from Buxton?
Did government learn anything from Linden?
Did government not learn anything from Agricola?
Did government learn anything from illegal squatters?
Government did not learn anything from illegal vending?

You mark my words, when you try to remove these people by force from this square the criminal elements from Buxton, Linden and Agricola fiasco will join.
Mr. Minister yes, most Guyanese, like you and your government believe in democracy, but you must first ask if these people believe in same.
In the first place if these people are interested in democracy they would not occupy any place illegally and protest and march illegally.
These people are showing this government that they are above and beyond any law of the land and can do as they choose at their choosing.
I know of many Guyanese who are throwing their hands up in the air that no  action is being taken against  these law-breakers.
