Court told… : Defendant had second marijuana package in crotch

COLIN Manson, 25, of Lot 377 Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday on a drug trafficking charge.
Before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell, he pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on October 19, at Ogle, East Coast Demerara, he trafficked in 464 grammes of cannabis (marijuana). Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) Special Prosecutor Oswald Massiah informed the court that the defendant has another similar case and was also charged with abduction.
The prosecutor said the defendant was at Ogle Airport, with an intention of going to Port Kaituma, North West District, when a bag on his back was searched by (CANU) officers and found to contain the narcotic.
On being taken to the CANU Head Office, another search was conducted on the defendant’s person and one more package containing the illegal substance was discovered in his crotch, the prosecutor related.
The defendant, who has to remain on remand until November 6, told the court there were 15 other persons in a line with him but he alone was called and questioned about the bag in his possession.
Manson denied having knowledge of the illegal substance.
