The law must send a strong message to criminals

REPORTS are that Mohamed, who practises carpentry for a living, was confronted on Belle West Road by three neighbourhood youths on bicycle.
Most people would say there are two sides to every coin but in this case there could only be one side.
Youths rule the roost, the world over, because in almost every country these youths know the law is on their side.
Human Rights Activist and in most cases

opposition to every government and most opposition NGO groups are on the side of youths.
In Kaieteur News the other day, there was a lone woman with a big sign that read ‘President Ramotar please stop using the police as killing machine from killing our black youths’.

As far as this lone woman is concerned, be it black youths or any youth, they can do no wrong.
Yes, most people and including persons in government, know there are rogue police officers in their midst and it’s government’s responsibility to root out those rogues.
But here again the laws of the land comes to play. The law makers must see it fit that anyone who swore to uphold the law and swear to protect and serve but is caught in criminal activities must be dealt with in a severe manner and be treated ten times worse than the ordinary criminal for they are the biggest, boldest criminals who come with a badge and full authority and licence in uniform.
Then there are people who are crying out for police protection in their communities from these same youths who tend to wreak havoc come hell or high water.
I recall a case where a man was murdered in his home. The police caught some youths and questioned them. One of the youth was tortured by police.
The police torturing became the spring board for those I mentioned above but none cared for the murdered man.
Those youths that were hauled in for questioning had to be let go because of police torture.
Then some weeks after it was reported that people in that community can sleep at nights and walk in peace during the day when those youths disappeared from their community.
Many residents knew in their hearts that it was the youths who disappeared and the one that was tortured by police that did the killing.
Reports were made to police but police said they have no vehicle.
I am sure there are people with vehicles who are most willing to pick up police and take police to the crime scene.
I say this because I witnessed this where a woman had gone to the police station to report her neighbour threw debris in her yard.
The neighbour picked up the police officer and brought her to her neighbour.
The police questioned the neighbour only to find out none of her neighbours were at home when she said she saw the debris dropped in her yard. It turned out that it was a bird’s nest that was dropped by a bird in her yard. She then took the police back to the station.
The youths in this case will be held for questioning so let’s see how the law deals with these now.
