The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport is hosting the exhibition in collaboration with the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) Ministry of Culture of India.
He explained that the exhibition themed “India: A Culture of Science” showcases the work of ancient and modern scientists and mathematicians from India. “This exhibition presents the work of some of these forgotten giants of science and shows how some of their theories are still applicable today. It also shows how other scientists have been able to build on the past concepts, reinterpret some of the information to innovate new technologies for our times,” he said.
Dr. Anthony  underscored how science and technology have developed in recent times and have revolutionised the way we think, learn and live. “We in Guyana have to embrace Science, not just in our classrooms, but to use it to our advantage in the way that we construct and develop our society,” he stated.
He opined that this exhibition is proof that science based societies have been able to generate more prosperity and wealth for their people.
In addition, he thanked the Government of India, and particularly the Ministry of Culture, for sending highly qualified resource personnel who would be conducting several workshops on mathematics and science over the next six weeks.
He also expressed gratitude to the team that came from India to set up the exhibition and the multi-agency organizing committee which includes the Ministry of Education, the Institute of Applied Science and Technology, University of Guyana and other institutions.
Dr. Anthony further lauded the President, Donald Ramotar for his vision and unstinting leadership in the area of education, noting that he has made a strong commitment for us to attain not only universal primary education, but to further attain universal secondary education.
“His strong commitment has been seen and he wants us to grow and develop to become a real science based society and I’m sure that with such commitment that we will be seeing many more high quality science exhibitions in Guyana,” Dr. Anthony said..
