GEORGETOWN Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday remanded Keron Taylor for allegedly attempting to murder Kevin Singh on August 18, at Waterloo Street, Georgetown, being together with another. Joseph Barker was also jointly charged with Taylor, but is presently hospitalized.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Peter Hugh, representing Taylor, requested bail, saying that his client has no previous convictions, but has pending a matter which is of a different nature.
Hugh said the only reason why his client was charged was because he is known to the police.
Police Corporal Shevon Jupiter, prosecuting, objected to bail on the seriousness of the offence. She also informed the court that the virtual complainant is still hospitalized.
Hugh argued that the prosecution should provide the court with a medical report, rather than speculate on the virtual complainant’s condition. He added that the virtual complainant would be waiting for the matter to call before leaving the hospital.
The magistrate ruled in favour of the prosecution, and denied the accused bail.
The matter will be called again on October 1.
