A DESPERATE Euclyn Burnette, 31, of Lot 123 Section ‘C’ Sophia, Greater Georgetown, a single-parent mother of five children is asking for public assistance to locate her 10-year-old son, who has been missing since July 22. The woman yesterday said she would continue to search for her child, but is clueless as to his whereabouts, and is very worried that something may have happened to him.
Her only hope is that he returns home. Nevertheless, she would not abandon the search for her son, who deserted her while they were at a Kingdom Hall church service at Stone Avenue, Campbellville.
Burnette told the Guyana Chronicle that her five children are all she has got, and the boy’s place is at home.
Her missing son, Shakeel Flatts, was last seen clad in a blue and white jersey with long black jeans and a pair of puma slippers. He is dark-skinned and thin-boned.
She explained that her son went away from home a few times before, but at nightfall he would go by his aunt, also in Sophia, and spend the evening before returning home.
She said she has since reported the boy’s disappearance to the police, and they even accompanied her to search for the boy, but it was unfruitful.
The Sophia Primary School pupil is reputedly a habitual delinquent, who roams the streets while his mother is away at work.
Flatts celebrated his 11th birthday on August 11.
Persons with information on the child’s whereabouts are kindly asked to call the nearest police station or his mother on 661-4425.
