POLICE unearthed an unlicensed gun and a quantity of cannabis sativa (marijuana) in two separate searches in the city and in Berbice on Wednesday.
They reported that at about 14:20 hrs on Wednesday, August 08 last, their ranks stopped and searched a motor car at Waterloo Street, Georgetown and unearthed an unlicensed 12-gauge Rossi shotgun. Two men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with that investigation.
In a separate incident, at about 09:45 hrs on Wednesday, August 08, police ranks conducted a search on the motor vehicle of a Surinamese national at Moleson Creek, Corentyne, Berbice during which 280 grammes of compressed marijuana were found.
The man is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
