RAMDATT Persaud, 48, of Annandale, Essequibo Coast, committed suicide by hanging on Saturday night. Reports said he had endured domestic problems for about two years and became an alcoholic after his wife walked out on him.
The labourer, who is a father of two, hanged himself with a piece of rope at his sister’s Cullen home, also on Essequibo Coast, while in a drunken state.
His dead body was discovered early Sunday morning, dangling from a shed near his sister, Lalita Persaud’s house, by a man who was jogging on the public road.
Investigations into Persaud’s  death are ongoing.
