SURINAMESE Anand Panchu was remanded to prison, on Tuesday, after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of illegal entry into Guyana. Before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo at the New Amsterdam Court, it was alleged that, on June 29, at Number 79 Village foreshore, Corentyne, also in Berbice, the defendant entered this country by a land frontier, other than a port of entry under the Immigration Act and failed to present himself to the nearest Immigration Office within 24 hours of arrival.
The case has been transferred to Springlands Court, Corentyne, for report and fixture, on August 2.
