SPECIALLY invited guest evangelist and deliverance Minister from California, Bishop Curtis (Earthquake) Kelley culminated three fulfilling days of fellowship in Guyana with a courtesy call on President Donald Ramotar yesterday. His visit came at the behest of Pastors Melvin and Valarie Goorasammy Smith who hosted ministerial conferences at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) and the Theatre Guild during the period July 23 and 25.
During his sermons and interactions with local missionaries, the evangelist who earned the name ‘Earthquake’ from his former career as a boxer, shared with the congregation, testimonies of his life as a drug addict.
“The people came out, they were so blessed and they were sitting at the edge of their seats waiting for more and, it was so great to see people’s lives change,” Bishop Kelley told the Government Information Agency (GINA).
As a boxer he suffered a mere four defeats out of 40 fights but, after escaping death on two occasions (pronounced dead by doctors both times) he saw his second chance at life as a revelation from God to deliver others out of darkness.
In the company of his spouse Pastor Selena Kelley, the Bishop assured that he will be returning on a similar mission and spoke well of the country’s landscape and the warm hospitality of the citizens.
“Mr. President was very gracious to us…we had a great conversation about the great country and we look forward to coming back again real soon,” Bishop Kelley said.
