Pending next appearance… NEIGHBOURS AMONG ABUSIVE LANGUAGE DEFENDANTS BONDED

COLEEN Bowen, a vendor and Saverna Haynes (no addresses given) appeared in court yesterday, charged with using abusive language to each other. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, it was alleged that they committed the offence on July 20 in Longden Street, Georgetown.
Bowen pleaded guilty and Haynes not guilty but each of them was placed on a one year bond to keep the peace and warned that a breach would attract two weeks imprisonment.
Meantime, they must make another court appearance on August 3.
Talita Clarks and Tiance Johnson, West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme neighbours, shared a similar fate in the same court.
Clarks is charged with the July 22 assault of Johnson, who also faced a charge of abusing Clarks.
Both pleaded not guilty to the assaults and Johnson guilty to using abusive language to Clarks.
They were both released on their own recognisances and bonded for a year, with the warning that breaching the bond would attract a two weeks prison sentence.
The defendants were also warned to stay away from each other pending the determination of the cases, which will be called, again, on August 3.
