Canadian filmmakers to produce reality series on Guyana for the Net

-special advertising deals for local sponsors
TWEETING is not necessarily an activity reserved for little birds anymore. Words like “tagging”, “poking” (nothing vulgar), “liking” and “friend”  have all taken on new meaning, thanks to social networks like Twitter, Hi.5, Tagged… And, of course, Facebook.
Facebook alone has about 850 million users worldwide. It’s no surprise, then, that since no newspaper or television station has such global reach, the Internet is the “world’s biggest channel.”

Just ask Christopher Bassoo, the Guyanese-born Canadian who is part of a 20-member delegation that will produce a three-week reality series on everything Guyana has to offer, for distribution on the Internet.

The 20-member crew will include Miss Canada 2012, Jaclyn Miles, who will accompany TAGG TV as they document their journey and experience throughout Guyana, making daily postings on the Internet on social networking sites.

TAGG TV was launched by the London-based 2bazu.com in November 2011, and has since grown to now be viewed by over 145,000 people via Facebook feed.

The episodes will see Jacquelyn and the participants dining, shopping and chatting together at local business sites, while they enjoy the services, products and activities available.

TAGG will “Tag” people that are in each episode, and then broadcast to all their contacts and friends, plus everyone that has “liked” TAGG Tv within seconds of the upload. For example, if a person has five hundred “friends”, then these will be able to see the post; and if they “like” it, there will be an infinite chain of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and more people viewing the post.

Each show has a theme, so each client base sees the other in a cross-promotional blitz. For example, a wedding-themed show may feature a jewellery business, florist, tuxedo company and limo company all on the same show.

Team member Christopher Bassoo, who is the President of 2bazu.com, said TAGG TV profiles the experiences in a way that commercials can’t.

The team, which would have started filming last Friday, began by featuring Miss Canada, Jaclyn Miles, who will be featured working at one of the featured gyms in Guyana and getting her hair done at Nalini’s Hair Salon, which is owned by Christopher’s mother, who is also a sponsor.

At a Friday morning press conference, Bassoo said TAGG TV, wanting to make businesses know how to utilise their products, has already contacted some of the major companies in Guyana, including our two telecommunications networks. The project will also include travel companies, hotels and top salons.

Each of the participating businesses will get a copy of the video, which they can use for years and years to come.  Packages include a “Platinum” package for US$3000 and a “Gold” package for US$1500.

The package includes Miss Canada visiting a participating entity, which will be profiled on Reality show TAGG TV Guyana; a press release naming businesses as sponsors; and rolling credit at the end of each of the 36 episodes. Bassoo can be contacted at 654-9307.

The venture has been endorsed by the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), which, in a letter displayed by TAGG, urges persons to take advantage of the opportunity to promote their products, services and brands.
