ALL is set for the much-talked about and highly-anticipated Third International Building Exposition, which opens tomorrow, and exhibitors are busy gearing up for the event.
It will be staged under the theme “Embracing Standards – Building the Future’, at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, East Bank Demerara, from July 6 to 8.
Local and overseas companies and experts in the building and construction sector will be showcasing their products and services to thousands of prospective homeowners and contractors, who are expected to pass through the exhibition.
Meanwhile, as the clock winds down to the grand opening, most of the exhibitors, both returning and new, are busy putting the final touches to their displays at the expo site.
As excitement mounts towards the staging of this activity over the weekend, from all indications, Guyanese can look forward to some exciting developments in the building and construction sector.
Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali, speaking to the Guyana Chronicle yesterday at the expo site, said the building and construction sector has been undergoing continuous growth, and hence the need for such an expo.

Building Expo brings together all stakeholders under one roof, and is the only expo where one can come and get all the relative services, including banking, insurance, landscaping, electronics, building materials, contractor services and architectural services.
He said they have more than 100 booths with major international and regional participation from the United States, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and China.
One of the new exhibitors this year will be Promise Land Development Limited.
Its mission is to revolutionise the construction industry in Guyana and offer American-style luxury homes at affordable prices, with unprecedented quality.
Director and Founder of Promise Land Development Ltd, Mr. Moses Rambarran, said, “We are bringing pre-fabricated homes into Guyana – there is nothing like this in Guyana, and what I hope to accomplish is to bring Guyana’s
construction industry into the 21st century for both residential homes and commercial buildings”.
Rambarran, who is remigrating to Guyana after living in the United States for 33 years, said, “As part of my remigration to Guyana, I want to bring something that will be extremely meaningful to the Guyanese public, and that is housing”.
Their steel-framed prefab buildings components come in a container from the factory where it is constructed to the international building code standards and the structures can put together within 30 days from the time it clears Customs, and buyers of these homes will also be provided a warranty.
Another newcomer, Hurricane Steel, is a Surinamese company. Its Project Manager, Phil Tja A Lien, said his company manufactures steel products for housing.

“This is our first participation in this expo, and we hope to find Guyanese contractors and builders with whom we can have a partnership to supply our materials, and hopefully they can build for us in future partnerships,” he expressed.
The Guyana Chronicle also caught up with some two other exhibitors who have been participating in building expo from its inception.
Managing Director of Ansa McAl Limited, Ms. Beverley Harper, said they will be showing off lots of new products for building and construction, including a new style of clay blocks and windows.
Sales Manager of National Hardware Ltd, Fizul Sattaur, disclosed that they will be introducing some new products on Saturday night, and as such, he encouraged persons to come out and check them.
Apart from that, he said National Hardware has all the materials required for the building of a home at a “very good price”, and also revealed that persons who make orders during building expo will get up to a 15 percent discount.
