THANKS to double strikes from Rondell Squires and Sherwin Bailey, the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) drubbed Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) 5-0, when action in the Inter-Ministry/Corporation seven-a-side football competition continued at the Banks DIH ground last Saturday night. Squires scored his brace in the 6th and 14th minutes and Bailey in the 10th and 22nd minutes which, along with Shawn Holder’s 19th minute strike, piloted GRA to their win.
In other matches, Guyana Pharmaceutical Corporation (GPC) and John Fernandes Limited (JFL) played to a 3-3 draw, with David Briton (8th, 26th) and Sherwin Jacobs (7th) being the goalscorers for JFL.
GPC’s goals came of the boots of (Travis Martin (13th), Mervin Beckles (16th) and the tournaments leading goalscorer Ken Agard, who scored his sixth goal in two matches, in the 19th minute.
Bank of Guyana defeated MACORP 2-0, with Marvin Yaw (11th) and Steve McLean (25th) scoring the victorious team’s goals before the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport (MCYS) humbled their counterparts from the Ministry of Tourism 4-1.
Travis Kato (13th), Simeon Hetymer (18th), Kenny Reuben (23rd) and Keith Blair (24th) were the goalscorers for MCYS, while Julian Harry pulled one back for Ministry of Tourism.
Guyana National Shipping Corporation (GNSC), Banks DIH and Republic Bank all got walk-over victories from National Insurance Scheme (NIS), Guyana Water Authority (GUYWA) and Guyana Power and Light respectively.
The competition continues tomorrow from 18:00hrs with Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) taking on Ministry of Education, Public Works opposing J&S Electrical, GRA facing JFL, Guyana Lottery Company meeting Media United and Republic Bank going up against GNIC.
