AS we speak, two of our ladies are on life support barely clinging to life due to the merciless attack by savage men. They are both victims of attacks from men who, from what we’ve read, promised to “love” them whatever their interpretation of that word. Love for these men means total control of the woman who, in their estimation, are chattels, owned by the man to be slapped, kicked, shoved and to have sexual pleasure with whenever and however he pleases.
And whenever that total control factor seems to be slipping away then he lashes out in the most brutal  fashion. There is a term used to define such men, sadistic psychopaths; men who use sex intermingled with violence to have their way. Strangely enough, some of our women are sucked into this whirlpool of sadism which is the main reason for situations like these occurring with such frequency.
The situation involving the interior teenaged young lady is a case where the savagery of being a sex slave in “the bush” comes into play. With the gold rush and the flow of money there some of our girls are lured into the get rich quick syndrome. But this is an area also fraught with much danger because they are putting themselves in a situation where the law of the jungle reigns supreme. Again the “men of the bush” owns these women and heaven knows whatever else goes on there.

With the lady of the urban area that creature of a man who was in disfavour with his lover decided not only to take a knife but a hammer to do the horrific job. He then makes a joke of a suicide bid to end his life. I say a joke of a suicide because real cowards, who he is, do not want to die. If he wanted to end it all then drink a good dose of poison and die like the low life you are.
I hope he gets the maximum sentence of life imprisonment for this despicable act. Now let me be cautious here with this life imprisonment statement, reasons being, when you consider this lady’s case she was forewarned numerous times by his sisters to get out of the relationship which she did not. In fact, when several other incidents of assault and battery were brought before the courts he was let off again and again because the woman kept begging the courts for him and letting him back into her home. So you might be shocked to know what might be going through her recovering mind.
Let me tell you a story that took place here in St Lucia: A woman was brutally chopped by her boyfriend to the point where she lost an arm. That brutal creature of a man did have his day in court. The day of the trial a women’s group here mounted a protest outside the courtroom. Strange enough that one armed woman went to court and begged for the man.
I say it is incredible to think that at the time others who were standing in solidarity with the woman outside would do the unthinkable inside the courthouse. In fact, she walked out of the courthouse holding on to her man with that one hand in full view of all the protesters. Well the story did not end there, that man eventually left her some months later for another when he became tired of living with what he called “a one han oman.”
I am calling on all ladies out there, stop thinking with your heart and start thinking with your head. These men do not “love”, they control and when they cannot control they kill. Finally, ladies, you do not need a man to define who you are. Some women are of the view that they must have a man, just any man even if he is a violent man. You hear them say: “it’s better to have a spouse that abuses you than none at all.” This is nonsense talk. Women, please get out of that mode!
