A LAND dredge owner reportedly hacked 22-year-old Junior Joseph of Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast to death after he caught him and his 15-year-old paramour in a compromising position, at about 22:00 hrs on Monday in the North West District community of Big Creek, at Port Kaituma in Region One, Barima/Waini.
The paramour was seriously injured, and has been hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital. Police have reported that the suspect, who hails from Oronoque, Port Kaituma, had left his mining camp to conduct business; and upon his return, he witnessed the shocking situation which caused him to inflict multiple chop wounds to the bodies of the two people involved.
The mortally wounded Joseph died before receiving medical attention, while the teenager was rushed to the Port Kaituma Hospital, before later being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC), where she was in critical condition up to press time.
E&F Division police are conducting investigations, but the dredge owner is said to be on the run. (Michel Outridge)
