Fined $20,000 for dangerous driving

DESMOND Laundry (no address given) pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was fined $20,000 yesterday. In addition, Magistrate Alex Moore, before whom he appeared at Sparendaam Court, endorsed his driver’s licence.
Particulars of the offence said, last May 8, at Ogle Railway Embankment, also on East Coast Demerara, the defendant drove PEE 2137 in a manner dangerous to the public and nearly caused a collision with another vehicle.
Police Sergeant Bernard Browne, prosecuting, said Laundry overtook several vehicles in a very reckless manner and was observed by a traffic policeman.
