SEVERAL residents from the Enmore/Foulis district are alleging that the incompetence of their community policing group may be encouraging factors for the recent trend of increased criminal activity that has been occurring in the community. According to one prominent Enmore businessman, while there has been a significant reduction in domestic violence and other similarly serious offences in recent times, a sudden upsurge of nocturnal violence is beginning to show its face.
He stressed that while the Enmore police seem to be doing a commendable job during the day, the alleged inefficiency of the community policing group seems to be overshadowing this achievement in the night.
To substantiate his claims, other residents lamented that most of the violent crimes have been occurring at nights, when the policing group is supposedly patrolling the community.
However, two members associated with the policing group told this newspaper under anonymity that the allegations by some of the residents are baseless, and are only intended to discredit the level of security the grouping has offered the community since its establishment several years ago.
They both stressed that the incidents in question are isolated and seem to be well planned, while reiterating that no community is free from criminal incidents.
However, they are contending that the policing group would be revamping itself and implementing new measures aimed at ending potential recurrence of these dastardly acts.
