I AM hereby asking of the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Hydraulics to say how much longer should the people of Essequibo endure hardship travelling to Georgetown. When we learnt of the new ferries arriving we were very optimistic, but now for several months there has been no word from the honourable subject minister.
On behalf of all the people of Essequibo, inclusive of the islands and the other interior locations who depend on river transport to reach the other side of the Essequibo, I wish to call on those involved in the decision making to act early and, tell us something. We have endured too much suffering and harassment travelling via the slow and run-down vessels. Time is running out and we demand answers to our questions.
I do hope all those involved in reading this reminder would motivate the subject minister. Maybe we may have to start a protest to get our demands met.
I am looking forward for your indulgence Mr. minister.
When will the hardship of Essequibians travelling to Georgetown end?
