In Barbados…

Kross Kolor spearheading Showcase Guyana next month
KROSS Kolor Records, as part of its continued strategy to take Guyanese music to the world, has released a new brand titled ‘Showcase Guyana.’ The concept is to merge Guyanese music, art and craft, fashion and food, along with products and services under one umbrella and promote them as a showcase across the Caribbean.
The first of the exhibitions take place in Barbados on June 2 and 3 at ‘The Pepperpot’, where the cream of the crop of Guyanese artistes, fashion designers, culinary artisans, Guyana Craft Association, Private Sector companies as well as the Guyana Manufacturers and Services Association (GM&SA) are expected to attend.
It is a collaborative initiative involving Kross Kolor Records, Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest) and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
An example of public/private partnership, the event has created a lot of interest locally and in Barbados, where a number of Barbadian companies wishing to do business with their Guyanese counterparts, will also be displaying their offerings and interacting.
Guyanese music has, already, been receiving massive airplay as nationals in Barbados rally around the show. Top artiste billing, so far, includes X2, Big Red and Rajesh Dubraj, with more to be added as the weeks unfold.
The organisers expect to attract some 10,000 people over two days, under the theme ‘This is we thing’.
