NARENDRA Nauth (no address given), convicted of dangerous driving at the Sparendaam Court yesterday, was fined $20,000 for the offence. He admitted to Magistrate Alex Moore, that on April 26, at the University of Guyana Access Road, Turkeyen, also on the East Coast of Demerara, that he drove in a manner dangerous to the public and caused injuries to three persons.
In addition to the fine, Nauth was ordered to pay compensation, of $25,000 each, to the injured trio on or before August 3, when he has to be back in court.
Reputed wife ordered to compensate for damaged clothing
DENISE Pritchard, of Vryheid’s Lust, who pleaded guilty to maliciously damaging clothing belonging to her reputed husband, Erwin Woodroffe, was, yesterday, ordered to compensate him for the damage.
Apart from $50,000 for the clothes she destroyed on May 1, Magistrate Alex Moore, before whom she appeared at the Sparendaam Court, instructed her to pay $10,000 in court costs, on or before May 14.
Failure to comply with the order will result in Pritchard serving three weeks imprisonment, said the magistrate, who admonished her strongly.
When asked the reason for what she had done, the woman claimed the virtual complainant is very abusive to her but the man denied the allegation and said Pritchard did the same on previous occasions, after accusing him of things about which he does not know.
