CCS GUYANA Limited, a subsidiary of the Neal and Massy (N&M) Group of Companies yesterday launched a three-day Information Technology (IT) Expo and Seminar intended to heighten awareness among businesses of what is available from a technological standpoint. The exposition features interactions and demonstrations, and participants are drawn from businesses throughout Guyana in the sectors of finance, manufacturing, service, and security, among others.
In fact, all of the major businesses in Guyana are represented, Chairman of CCS, Deo Persaud, told the Chronicle at yesterday’s opening of the seminar at the Neal and Massy Sports Club at Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
“We have arranged this seminar to interact with you the latest improvement in IT, which you may be able to use to make your organisation more efficient and secure,” he remarked.
CCS Guyana represents many world class brands, including Xerox, Dell, Motorola, Eaton Powerware, Microsoft, Kronos and NCR; and according to Persaud, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of N&M, the developed world has more technology, and hence the intention is to bring some of it home to Guyana.
Persaud said CCS is happy to see that the Government of Guyana recognizes the benefits of IT, having launched its ‘One Laptop per Family’ (OLPF) programme, and has also included IT labs in many schools.
Speaking about some of the latest improvements in IT, Persaud highlighted Virtualisation, Kronos, Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Electronic Security, DMS, and ID. Commenting on Virtualisation, he said this enables technology to serve organisations at lower costs and risks, while increasing service levels.
Virtualisation is increasingly being adopted across Guyana; and using the right tools and best practices in medium and large scale projects is becoming more important in successful and efficient adoption of this technological approach.
Persaud said CCS wishes to introduce Kronos, a system like no other, which allows effective monitoring of workforce, and automates payroll, timesheets, overtime, shift systems, etc. Kronos can also reduce inefficiencies when employees “buddy punch” by utilizing technologies such as biometric verification.
Speaking on ECM, Persaud noted that this is an important step in managing information that can be strategically important in organisations. With perceptive software, it will be learnt how organisations are leveraging this technology to streamline business processes, automate documents, and capture and improve communications.
Concerning Electronic Security, Persaud said that CCS Guyana will demonstrate its capacity to utilise available technology for affordable higher level IT and security solutions.
Items on show during the second session will include Closed Circuit Television; Access Controls; Intruder, Panic and Fire Alarms; and Intercom Systems.
On DMS, Persaud said CCS would also like to introduce an all-in-one solution from Xerox, called Docushare, which is a flexible document management system that allows the easy storage, access and sharing of information in a secure and collaborative work environment.
He also announced that, from May 2, there will be the launch of a new service at the CCS Store for the printing of employee ID badges and membership cards.
“Our goal is to provide you with top quality security badges and supplies at competitive prices, with exceptional customer service and support. CCS has a team of well trained staff to support all the brands we sell. Many of the leading institutions we service in Guyana are already using some of the products installed by our team,” Persaud disclosed.
The NM Security and Safety Expo was first introduced from July 13 to 15 last year.
