–arms & ammunition seized in raids, one detained
POLICE report that Lennox Heywood, 21, of Pitt Street, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara died on Thursday from stab wounds inflicted upon him by a woman following an argument between them on Wednesday at a mining camp at Lima, Five Star Backdam, North West District, Region 1. Police Spokesman, Assistant Commissioner, Ivelaw Whittaker, said in a release that a probe so far revealed that Heywood and a woman were arguing on Wednesday, at around 10 pm, when Heywood was allegedly stabbed during the argument, and succumbed to his injuries at about 06:45 hrs the following day at the Matthews Ridge Hospital.

Meanwhile, police recovered two hand guns and arrested two men during searches on the coastland and at an interior mining area.
Whittaker said that at around 8pm on Wednesday, police found an unlicensed 9MM pistol and seven rounds of ammunition at a house at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara.
And at about 07:30am on Thursday, police searched a mining camp at Chinese Creek, Mazaruni River, during which an unlicensed .38 Taurus revolver with four rounds was found.
A man has been arrested in this latter incident, and charges will be laid shortly.
