Tapakuma rapist flees to Venezuela

– report
THE 26-year-old man, who is accused of raping his 14-year-old cousin, is reported to have fled from Tapakuma, an Amerindian community on the Essequibo Coast, to Venezuela.
Reports said he had lived with the family of the victim but has disappeared since committing the act.
The village is located some 15 miles aback of Anna Regina, also on the Essequibo Coast, to where the girl was returning after going on an errand for her parents, when the motorcyclist offered her a ride.
But he took her to a lonely spot and, after sexually violating her, he hid in the jungle for several days when news of the incident spread in the closely knit community.
He is now a fugitive being sought by the police who are conducting investigations.
