Minibus conductor refused bail after failing to provide address

A MINIBUS conductor was refused bail yesterday, when he appeared before Magistrate Allan Wilson and could not provide the court with his address. Consequently, Paul Smith, 18, was remanded to prison on a break and enter and larceny charges, to which he pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the offences said, on April 5, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Kesha Smith and stole a bicycle valued $14,000 and a pair of sneakers priced at $7,000.
Police Sergeant, Gordon Mansfield, prosecuting, said the defendant seems not to have a fix place of abode and he was told to return on May 24.
Eustace Hicks suffered the same fate when he faced a charge of larceny from the person.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, details of which stated that, on April 9, he stole a gold and sliver band valued $17,000 from Anthony Roberts.
The defendant told the court he lives at Lot 380 Independence Boulevard but could not say where Independence Boulevard is located.
Magistrate Wilson told the defendant that he is not satisfied with the one given and that a proper address must be available for the court to grant bail.
Hicks has to make his next appearance on May 24.
