‘The Real Easter JAM’ headed for Maltenoes tomorrow

‘THE Real Easter JAM’, a Christian concept event designed for the entire family, is headed this year for the Malteenoes Sports Club Ground on Thomas Lands, opposite the National Park entrance. A day-long affair, the ‘Jam’ begins at 10:00h when the gates are scheduled to be opened, and the entire family is invited to fly their kites and enjoy the kiddies corner, which will feature free pony rides, video games and face painting, among other exciting attractions.
Then at 17:00hrs, a string of Guyanese and international artistes will take to the stage as the ground becomes transformed into a concert setting, which will feature song, dance, disc-jockeying and poetry.
The headliners for the event are J-Square and Baby C from Trinidad and Tobago; Nexchange and Kereem Rodney from Jamaica; and the Guyanese contingent, including Kester D, Dynamic Flames, Cross Carriers, Joel and Angie Browne, Amanda Peters, and Ryan Hoppie.
Two Christian sound systems — Turning Point and Corner Stone — will belt out non-stop gospel music throughout the day and night.  Parking is available in the ground, and there will be a drink and food bar. In addition, 500 kites will be given away free of charge.
JAM is an acronym for ‘Jesus Assurance for Mankind’, and JAM events are usually held around statutory holidays, such as Easter and Christmas.
The Jam series is set up especially to target the two main audiences: Those who have not received Jesus as Lord and Saviour; and the prodigal sons and daughters name-tagged as ‘backsliders’.

The main objectives of the events are:
(1) To give local artistes a platform to exhibit their talents, acquire experience, and build their portfolios among renowned international artistes and personalities;

(2) to exemplify nonviolence, love, peace, unity, and abstention;

(3) to provide positive and life-changing entertainment for all ages;
and

(4) to contribute to the local tourism industry.
This year’s event is managed by DJ Evangelist, a Guyanese residing in Canada who operates DancehallGospel.com; Things Gospel, headed by Rev. Colin Edghill;  and Legacy Management Agency.
